so much...

this heart wants to say
words cannot start to explain the whirlpool it feels
waiting to burst with the rainbow of emotions

my heart...
why are you so heavy
where has your flutter gone
when will you lithe and bounce and jive

simple pleasures in life

I was talking to a friend last night and he mentioned that he has never played in the rain. Ahhhh, all that he has missed... And with that, we went on talking about the simple (almost free) things that we can do, that will forever be etched in our hearts!

1) Playing in the rain
Have a group of people and it will be doubly fun! I often do this with my cousins especially on our family trips. Sometimes, we even have mud fights. JOY!

2) Colouring books
Remember the excitement it brought when you happily coloured your favourite cartoon character? Try it as it brings just as much excitement after 20 years! Smurfs coloring books are all the fad now so start sharpening you blue color pencil...

3)  Snack on the bed
Throw caution to the wind about those white bedsheets! Snack while you laze, daydream or even while reading. Do them all on the bed. Roll around a bit while you are at that.

4) Ice-Cream from the Tub
All you need is a spoon or grab a few spoons and share it. The more the merrier.

5) Blow Bubbles
I bought a big tube of soap water with a (magic?) wand for MYR5 at Teluk Cempedak. It made me giggle for a good hour! My cousin, who first laughed at me for the childish escapade, in the end, laughed with me when she discovered the sheer pleasure of blowing bubbles!

Come on, go try the above! Live a lil, laugh a lil' more... :D

choosy, picky, fussy

Apparently, that's what I am.

Or at least that is what people's opinion is about me. But then again, you know what they say about opinions - they are like assholes, every body has one. :P

If you are reaching 30, single, unmarried, not lesbian, not a nun, then you must be one of the above. Or you could be just fat.

It doesn't matter if you have an awesome job, your own car, can afford your own house, and have traveled extensively. Nope, nothing else matter unless you bow down to the norms of society and follow what your predecessors have done - get married and make babies.

Stop judging people. Everyone's journey is different. People make decisions on life all the time, but only some rare ones act on them. I give those a pat on the back and would tell them, "Woohoo, comrade!"

I am not about to turn into a bra-burning-feminist, but I have never felt more aware of my gender than how I am feeling now - turning 30 and single.

quotable quotes....

My current favourite quote:

“Some people are settling down, some people are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.”

separating the boys from men

The hype is all back! I remember when I was an 18 year old, saving up my pocket money to buy the April issue of the CLEO Magazine, sharing it with Min Hui and ogling over men. Now when I think about it, yes I know its lame but to my defense, I did come from an all girls' school!

After 3.., 4.., 5 years, the novelty wore off and April issue of CLEO didn't make me bat an eyelash. I mean, by then I have already had the taste of the real world eligible bachelors.

I picked up last year's April copy of CLEO when BK hollered out to me - he was "An Eligible Bachelor"! The same BK who I had known from the time he was 16, who used to annoy me in school... 11 years down the road he is an eligible bachelor!

This year, I picked up a copy again. This time for the sake of Marcus. He is a colleague and also Bachelor No. 23. Marcus Chan? An eligible bachelor? As much of a darling Marcus is, but at the age of 24, he is still a boy!! As I flipped through the pages, I realised that most of these bachelors are no older than 26!?! Out of 50 of them, 32 of them are no older than 26 years old. There is a couple of them who are as young as 22!

The definition of Eligible Bachelor: An unattached man who is desirable and worthy of choice.

Perhaps, age shouldn't define whether someone is desirable and worthy of choice. But isn't it time to separate the boys from men?

Are we really running out of real eligible single men out there? It really seems like CLEO has been pulling out any random male from the streets. What have these 50 men accomplished that makes them desirable and worthy of choice?

Oh and on another note, the past 2 years, the photographs are not very flattering and doesn't do justice to them. If this is the best Malaysia has to offer... SINGLE is the word. :P
